Finding the positive side of COVID-19

Finding the positive side of COVID-19

This story told by Bernadette Taggio was published on the ProctorGallagherInstitute website in English.

I translated it in French and add it for you because I think it’s a very nice story.

I also think this kind of story can help you understand how to integrate the fundamental laws of personal development into your personal or professional life.

Here’s the story below:

Running a small business in 2020 is DIFFICILE.

Running a small retail business in 2020 is much more difficult. And running a small service business in 2020 may seem IMPOSSIBLE.

My mother and I own and manage King’s Crown, a men’s care company in Toronto. We offer men a selection of internationally sourced skin and wellness products in our studio and on our website.

Our website was launched in 2014, and our first treatment salon, which offers everything from haircuts and beard care to hand and foot care, opened in the prestigious Bayview Village in October 2015.

Like any small business, we fought for what we had, doing our best with every interaction with the customer. We had a few bumps and bruises along the way, but, for the most part, we won!

Then, in November 2019, we opened our second studio on the 5th floor of the Hudson’s Bay flagship store on Queen Street. We had two studios and an online business.

We were growing!

But by early March 2020, the writings were on the wall: COVID-19 is spreading rapidly, and it could be deadly.
On March 16, before the government’s closure order, my mother and I made one of the most difficult decisions to date. We had to temporarily close the studios.

Could our competition intervene and take our customers? Perhaps. Could we lose a lot of business? Of course. At the end of the day, we knew that to protect our employees and customers, it was the responsible decision to make.

With a heavy heart, we have laid off all our employees. We helped them apply for the necessary government programs and supported them in every way possible, including covering 100% of their health benefits and writing letters to their landlords to help them apply for a rent reduction. We stayed in touch and made ourselves available to support them and their families.

On March 19, both studios were closed and we had no idea what was coming. At first we thought it would be for a few weeks, and then we could reopen everything. But at the end of the week, we knew it was much bigger than we had imagined.

We continued to communicate with our customers via email, phone and SMS. We were trying to keep everyone informed and see if they needed help.

Customers told us they needed hand sanitizer and disposable gloves to keep them and their families safe. As these products were already basic items in the studios, we knew where to find them. We called our suppliers and made sure that these products came from.

We put the products on our website and started emailing our customers to let them know what was available. We sold one-litre hand sanitizer bottles, disposable gloves and masks online and shipped them all.

We attached a handwritten note to each order thanking our customers for their support. We also included free samples of other products they might like, to see a smile on their faces amid the chaos.

There was a bit of money coming in, but nothing compared to what we used to do. Our commercial rent (not to mention other expenses) was on the horizon, and our employees were still laid off.

At night we had tried to find out what we could do to survive – we were in survival mode, and it wasn’t fun. Between online orders and the preparation of the opening of the studios, we worked harder than ever, with little efficiency.

In June, after three months of closure, we were finally given the “green light” to open our doors, and we did! We rehired everyone and worked harder than ever, disinfecting surfaces every 15 minutes, and before and after each customer.

The service areas were either six feet apart or we had custom partitions to divide stations that could not be separated. We ordered disposable capes and made sure every customer had a new one. The price of gallons of alcohol (a common disinfectant) had more than doubled, and we were using hand sanitizer more than ever. The cost of doing business had skyrocketed.

After about three weeks, business fell. Customers did not come as often, as many still did not go to the office. We were open, but we were still in survival mode, with no end in sight.

After another discussion about “what are we going to do,” my mother had an idea: why not call Bob Proctor to see what he has to say?

Bob was one of our long-time and much-loved customers. I was already in contact with him to organize and reorganize his haircut, making sure he had a reserved place as soon as we could open. So I called Bob with a little request: I’m having trouble and I need help, can we meet?

To my surprise, Bob agreed. He graciously gave me an hour of his time. Bob’s reaction was simple: you draw what you focus on. Find the bright side and focus on it.

At first, it seemed crazy. There was nothing good that came from COVID-19- NOTHING!

However, on reflection, I began to find several gold nuggets in my situation.

To name a few, I was able to have dinner with my partner every night – a luxury I had only once or twice a week before. This allowed me to focus on e-commerce and relaunch it. We have reduced all our expenses and found new and innovative ways to save money.

This fight is not over, but by taking control of my thoughts and focusing on positive things, it helped me to “overcome the storm” and stress!

We are grateful to Bob and our employees for maintaining their trust in us and all the customers who have shown us immeasurable support by “small business” and supporting local businesses. We pay and do the same, choosing to spend our money with local businesses that feed and build our community.

What I am sure of is that it will pass, too, and I will be stronger because of that. I will always remember the power of good mentors, positive thinking and, of course, the scratches and bruises that allowed me to open up and learn valuable life lessons along the way.

What did you do during the COVID-19 period?

Have you been able to see the positive side and focus on it?

4 Exercises to manifest your desire with The Law of Attraction

4 Exercises to manifest your desire with The Law of Attraction

Would you like to manifest everything that you want with the Law of Attraction?

Do you know that everything that you want is created twice: once in your conscious mind and then it is expressed in your reality?

Everything you have and experience in your life today is a direct result of your thoughts. If you want to change your life or have, be or do something you have only dreamed of, all you have to do is change your thoughts.

But imagine being able to:

Heal yourself with the power of your mind…
Connect with your higher purpose to manifest your dreams, your goals…

Manifest Your Desire
  • What if you want results to come faster?
  • What if you want the Law of Attraction to be more consistent?

All by doing a one amazingly simple exercise.

I learned about this advanced Law of Attraction technique in the classic self-help book, The Magic of Believing, written in 1948 by Claude M. Bristol.

I am going to share with you this Law of Attraction exercise that will help you do all of that and more.

It’s called “The Mirror Technique”.

Let me show you how to do it so you can apply it to your life right now. Ready?

Go to a quiet, calm place where you can stand directly in front of a full-length mirror. This mirror should be large enough so that you can see your whole body. So the bigger the better!

Make sure you’re standing up straight and you have a relaxed posture and don’t forget to put a smile on your face! 😊

Take a few deep breaths until you feel calm, grounded, and centered. Look straight into your own eyes.

Law of Attraction Exercise

Reflect on your positive worth and value and let feelings of self-love and self-compassion rise inside you.

And if you would like to take it one step further, think about all the things you want to manifest into your life and how you’re going to feel once you have them.

As you continue to look at yourself in the eyes with determination, say the words “I understand, love, and accept myself on the deepest level.” Give yourself the pep talk of a lifetime.

The Law of Attraction Exercise - Say it

A few examples are:

  • “I easily make $10,000 a month,”  or you can even try doing it like this:
  • “Tina, you look fabulous! You are so healthy and trim. You only eat foods that nourish you and make you look and feel your best. You’re such an inspiration to everyone around you. You radiate happiness, joy, and positive energy. This is your life and you’re loving it!”

This technique is not about being vain or bragging about yourself, but more about tapping into the almost supernatural power that exists inside of you and will help you manifest anything you desire.

Tip: For best results, try this quick exercise before you leave your house or before going to bed every night.

Okay, so one of the most common goals people have when doing this exercise is to manifest more money into their lives.

I mean, who wouldn’t want to double their income, get out of debt, and have more time and freedom to live on their own terms – right?

So, if you want to know more about the law of attraction, I’ve recorded a webinar for you where I share how the Law of Attraction REALLY Works and I also show you how to identify which of your habits, beliefs, and values are sabotaging your relationship with money, health, happiness, or relationships.

Why some people get rich and why most don't

  • The Science of Getting Rich sounds complicated, ambiguous even.
  • The truth is, it’s incredibly simple. So simple, a vast majority of the population completely misses it.
  • The Science of Getting Rich is all about thinking—and most importantly, how and what you’re thinking—it’s definitely a mindset.
  • Thinking is the highest function a person is capable of.
  • REAL thinking is orderly. It is not random and subject to the chaos that is going on around us.
  • REAL thinking involves retrieving information and inspiration that comes from SPIRIT.
  • REAL thinking is clear and exact—and it’s associated with the understanding of Truth.

This is the kind thinking Bob Proctor and Sandy Gallagher lead you into during The Science of Getting Rich Seminar.

How to make a decision

How to make a decision

What is a decision?

There is only one mental activity that you can do that, in a thousandth of a second, will allow you to solve huge problems. It has the ability to improve almost any personal or professional situations that you may one day encounter… and it could literally propel you on the path to incredible success. We have a name for this magical mental activity… We call it: the decision.

Decisions or lack thereof are responsible for ending or launching a career. The people who have become very competent in decision-making without being influenced by the opinions of others, are the same people whose annual incomes are divided into the category of six and seven figures.

HoweverDecision It’s not just your income that’s affected by the decisions; your whole life is dominated by this power. The health of your body and mind, the well-being of your family, your social life, the type of relationships you develop… all depend on your ability to make informed decisions.

You would think that something as important as decision-making, such a large-scale power would be taught in all schools, but that is not the case. To intensify the problem, not only is decision-making absent from the curriculum of our educational institutions, until recently, but it is also absent in most business and resource training programs. human resources available.

Can we develop the ability to make a decision quickly?

So how should a person develop that mental capacity? Simply put, you have to learn how to do it yourself. However, I think it is important to understand that it is not difficult to learn how to make wise decisions. Armed with the right information and submitting to certain disciplines, you can become a very effective decision maker.

You can virtually eliminate conflict and confusion in your life by becoming competent in decision-making. It brings order to your mind and, of course, that order is then translated into your objective world into your results.

James Allen may have been thinking about the theme of the decision when he wrote:

We think in secret and it happens that our environment is only our own reflection.

Indeed no one can see you making decisions, but almost always we can see the results of your decisions. The person who fails to develop his or her ability to make decisions is condemned because indecision sets up internal conflicts that can, without escalation, degenerate into all-out, mental and emotional wars. Psychiatrists have a name to describe these internal wars, it is ambivalence. My Larousse Dictionary tells me that this ambivalence is the coexistence in one person of opposing feelings towards the same goal.

You don’t need a Ph.D. in psychiatry to understand that you’re going to have difficulties in your life by allowing your mind to stay in this ambivalent state regardless of the time period. The person who allows this ambivalence will become very discouraged and almost incapable of any kind of productive activity. It is obvious that anyone who is in such a mental state does not live, at best, simply exists. A decision, or a series of decisions, should change everything.

A very fundamental law of the universe is “to create or disintegrate.” Indecision leads to disintegration. How many times have you heard someone say, “I don’t know what to do.” How many times have you said to yourself, “What should I do?” Think of some of the conflicting feelings that almost everyone on this planet experiences from time to time.

Everyone, on occasion, has experienced these feelings of ambivalence. If you think you’re in this pattern a lot and it happens to you a lot, then decide to stop right away. The cause of ambivalence is indecision, but we must keep in mind that truth is not always in the appearance of things.

Indecision is a cause of ambivalence, but it is only a secondary cause, it is not the primary cause. I have studied the behavior of people who have become very competent in making decisions for over a quarter of a century. They all have one thing in common. They have a very strong self-image, a high degree of self-esteem. They may be as different as night from day in many other respects, but all have absolute confidence.

Low self-esteem or lack of confidence is the real culprit. Decision-makers are not afraid to make a mistake. If and when they make a mistake in their decision, or fail in any way, they have the ability to ignore it. They will learn from experience, but will never fail.

Each decision-maker was fortunate to have been raised in an environment where decision-making was part of his education, or he developed that capacity himself later. He is aware that anyone who wishes to live a full life must understand that decision-making is something that cannot be avoided.

This is the cardinal principle of decision-making. Decide where you are with what you have. This is precisely why most people have never been able to master this important aspect of life. They allow their resources to dictate to them whether and when a decision will be made or can be made. When John Kennedy asked Werner Von Braun what it would take to build a rocket that would carry a man to the Moon and bring him safely back to earth, his answer was simple and straightforward. “The will to do it.” President Kennedy never asked if it was possible. He never asked if they could afford it or any of the thousand other questions, who would have … at that time … was fitting.

Comment John Kennedy prend une décision

John Kennedy prend une decision voir sur le blog

President Kennedy has made a decision … He said: we will put a man on the moon and bring him safely back to earth before the end of the decade. The fact that this had never happened before in human history was not even an option. He decided on the very moment with what he had. The goal was achieved in his mind the second he made the decision. The rest was only a matter of time … governed by natural law allowing the objective to manifest itself in a physical form so that the whole world can see it.

I was a few hours before in an office with three people. We were talking about buying shares in a company. I was selling, they were buying. After a reasonable amount of time, one of the partners asked me when I wanted an answer. I said, “Now.” I added, “You already know what you want to do.” There was some discussion about money. I pointed out that the money had nothing to do with their decision. Once you make the decision, you will find money, every time. If that’s the only benefit you’ll get when you read this particular message about decision making, then burn it in your mind. It will change your life. I then explained to two of the people I was negotiating with that I never let money interfere with my mind when making a decision. Whether I can afford it or not is never taken into consideration.

Whether I like it or not is the only consideration. You can afford anything, there is an infinite amount of money. All the money in the world is at your disposal when the decision is right. If you need money, you will attract it.

I am well aware that there are a number of people who will say that it is absurd. That they cannot decide to do something if they do not have all the resources they need. If that’s their way of thinking, that’s fine. I see this as a very restrictive way of thinking. In truth, this is probably not even the way of thinking … it rather resembles an opinion expressed, probably inherited from another older member of their family who has not even thought of anything.

Thinking or reflecting is very important. Decision-makers are great thinkers. Have you ever considered reviewing your thoughts? … how do they affect different aspects of your life? While this must be one of our most important considerations, for many people, it is not. However, there is a small group of selected people who try to control or direct their thoughts.

Anyone who has done a study on great thinkers, great decision-makers, great men of history, knows that very rarely do they agree on anything when it comes to the study of human life. However, there is one point on which all were in full and unanimous agreement and this is: “We become what we think about.”

What do you think? You and I need to understand that our thoughts ultimately control every decision we make. You are the sum of your thoughts. By taking charge of that same minute, you can guarantee yourself a good day. Refuse to let unhappy, negative people or circumstances affect you.

The biggest stumbling block you will encounter when making important decisions in your life is the circumstances. We let them turn away from our goal. Many dreams are shattered and goals are lost because of circumstances more than any other factor.

How many times have you caught yourself red-handed saying, “I want to do this, but I can’t because … All of the following “because” represents the circumstances. They can train you to take a detour into your life, but they should never be allowed to stop you from making important decisions.

Napoleon said:

Circumstances, I do.

Next time you hear someone say that they would like to go on holiday to Paris, or buy a particular car, but can’t afford it because they don’t have money, explain to them why they don’t need the money before his decision to go to Paris or buy a car is actually made. When the decision is made, he will always find a way to get the necessary amount. This has been verified every time.

Many misguided individuals try to do something once or twice and if they fail to do so, they feel in a sense of failure. Failing certainly does not mean that you are a failure, but if you give up it will most certainly and “giving up” is a decision. By following this form of reasoning, you could say that every time you make the decision to give up you make the decision to fail.

Every day in America, you hear about a baseball player who has signed a contract that will earn him a few million dollars a year. You should try to keep this in mind… this same player will miss the ball more often than he will score a goal.

Everyone remembers Babe Ruth who hit 714 home runs, but it was rarely mentioned that he failed 1,330 times.

Charles F. Kettering says, and I quote, “When you invent, if you miss 999 times but succeed once, you have succeeded.”

This is true for any activity you can imagine; the world will forget your failures in the face of the success of your achievements. Don’t worry if you fail or not, it will harden you and prepare you for your great victory. Winning is a decision.

Several years ago, Helen Keller was asked if she thought there was anything worse than being blind. She quickly replied that there was something much worse. She says, “The most pathetic person in the world is a person who has vision, but no vision.” I agree with Helen Keller.

At 91, J. C. Penny had been questioned about his eyesight. He replied that his eyesight was declining, but that his vision had never been better. It’s really great, isn’t it?

When a person has no vision of a better life, he automatically locks himself in a prison, he is limited to a life without hope. This often happens when a person repeatedly seriously trying to succeed and has found himself facing failures many times. Repeated failures can damage a person’s self-image and cause them to lose sight of their potential. That is why she makes the decision to give up and resign herself to her fate.

Take the first step in predicting your own prosperous future. Build a mental image how exactly you want to live. Make a firm decision to maintain this vision and positive ways to improve everything that will begin to emerge in your mind.

Many people get a good vision of how they would like to live, but because they don’t see how all this will be possible, they give up their vision. If they knew how they were going to get it or do it, they would have a plan, not a vision. There is no inspiration in a plan, but there is certainly inspiration in a vision. When you have vision, freeze it, frame it with a decision and don’t worry about how you’re going to achieve it or where the resources will come from. Be very enthusiastic about this decision … that’s what’s important. Refuse to worry about how this is going to happen.

Advanced decision-making.

We book in advance when we have to travel somewhere – it’s quite common. We do this in advance to eliminate any confusion or problems when the time comes to travel. We do the same thing and for the same reason, when we rent a car. Think about the problems you will eliminate by making all the decisions you know you have to make… well in advance. I will give you an excellent example, as I prepare this message during Ramadan, a time when all Muslims practice fasting. I was in an office yesterday in Kuala Lumpur and was asked if I wanted to drink a cup of tea or coffee. I said I would like a cup of tea. Then the question was asked to the lady near me who immediately answered … “No, I’m on an early one.” When asked, she did not have to decide whether she wanted something or not. Whether she was thirsty or not was not a consideration. His decision had already been made, and his decision made in advance was imbued with discipline.

Exactly the same concept works with people when they are on a diet in order to release weight. Their decisions are made in advance. If we offer them a big slice of chocolate cake, they won’t say: “Wow, he looks good … I wonder if I should.” Their decision is made in advance.

I made a decision a long time ago not to participate in discussions about why something cannot be done. The only compensation you will receive from participating in such discussions is to give energy to something you don’t want. I always find it amazing how many seemingly intelligent people persist in dragging you into negative brainstorming sessions. In one breath, these people will tell you that they seriously want to achieve a particular goal. And at the next breath, they’ll start telling you why they can’t. Think about how much fun they will enjoy by making a decision not to participate in this type of negative energy.

The humanist psychologist, Dr. Abraham Maslow, who has dedicated his life to studying self-actualised people, has made it very clear that we must follow our inner guide and not be influenced by the opinions of others or circumstances External. Maslow’s research has shown that decision-makers in life have a number of things in common, and most importantly, that they work and feel useful and important. They found pleasure at work, and there was little difference between working and playing. Dr. Maslow says that to self-actualize, you don’t just have to do the work you consider important, but you have to do it well and enjoy it.

Dr. Maslow found that these superior performers had values, these qualities in their personality that they considered useful and important. Their values are not imposed by society, parents or other people in their lives. They make their own decisions. They love their work, they choose and develop their own values.

Your life is important and, at its best, life is short. You have the opportunity to do what you choose, and to do it well. But, you have to make decisions and when the time to make a decision comes, you have to make your decision where you are with what you have.

I leave you with the words of two great decision makers, William James and Thomas Edison. William James suggested that, compared to what we should be, we make use of only a tiny fraction of our physical and mental resources. Declaring this concept broad, the human individual to this day lives well below his limits. It has powers of all kinds that it does not usually manage to use.

Years later, Thomas Edison said, and I quote:

If we do all the things we are capable of doing, we will literally be amazed.

By making a simple decision, the greatest minds of the past are at your disposal. You can literally learn how to turn your wildest dreams into reality.

Use this valuable information and recognize the greatness that exists in you. You have unlimited resources of potential and a capacity waiting to be developed. Start today because there has never been a better time other than the present. Be everything you are capable of.

I am the greatest miracle of nature according to the book “the greatest seller” of Og Mandino

I am nature’s greatest miracle is the 14th chapter of og Mandino’s book “The Greatest Seller in the World.” I think that reading this particular chapter allows anyone who is in the sales to see their self-esteem grow, in any case, that’s what he did for me.

So I let you read and reread: I am nature’s greatest miracle.

Since the world is world, no one but me has possessed my mind, my heart, my eyes, my ears, my hands, my hair and my mouth. None of those who came before me, none of those who live today, and none of those who will come tomorrow can walk, express themselves, move or act exactly like me. All human beings are my brothers, but each of them is different from me. I’m a unique creature.

I am nature’s greatest miracle.

Although part of the animal kingdom, the rewards offered to animals do not satisfy me. In me burns a flame passed down from generation to generation, and its warmth constantly spurs my mind so that I become better than I am, and I will become one. I will fan this flame of dissatisfaction and proclaim my uniqueness to the world.

No one can reproduce exactly my brush-stroke, nor chisel with a chisel like me; no one can copy my writing perfectly, nor can they give birth to my child and, in truth, no one else possesses the same sales skills as me. From now on, I will take advantage of these differences because these are assets that I must promote to the utmost.

I am nature’s greatest miracle.

I will not try by vain attempts to imitate others. Instead, I will display my uniqueness in the marketplace. I’ll proclaim it, yes I’ll sell it. I will begin to focus on my differences and hide my similarities now. I will also apply this principle to the products I sell. A seller, like his products, is different from all others and proud to be.
I am a unique creature of nature.

I am a rare being and all that is rare has value; for this reason, I am precious. I am the culmination of thousands of years of evolution. Therefore, I am better equipped physically and mentally than all the emperors and sages who preceded me.

But my abilities, my heart, my body and my mind will stagnate, dry out and perish if I don’t make good use of them. I have unlimited potential. I use only a tiny bit of my mind and I drag only a few of my muscles. I can multiply my achievements by a hundred and increase them further. And that’s what I’ll do from today.

Never again will I be content with my accomplishments of yesterday and I will never again let myself go to praise myself for gestures that are in reality too insignificant to be considered. I can accomplish much more than I have achieved so far and I will! For why, then, would the miracle of my birth cease with my coming into the world? Why can’t I extend this miracle to my actions today?

I am nature’s greatest miracle.

I’m not on this earth by chance. I am there to achieve a very specific goal: to grow as high as a mountain and not to make myself as small as a grain of sand. From now on, I will make every effort to become the highest of all mountains and use my potential to the limit of my strength.

I will rigorously deepen my knowledge of humanity, the products I sell and myself in order to multiply my sales. I will practice, improve and polish the words I utter to sell my goods, for that is the basis on which I will build my career. I will never forget that many have experienced wealth and success with masterfully exposed sales pitches. In addition, I will constantly seek to improve my presentation to such qualities. Don’t we say, “You don’t catch flies with vinegar”

I am nature’s greatest miracle.

I will focus my energy on the challenge of the moment and forget everything else in the heat of the moment. My family worries will have to stay at home. My thoughts should not be obstructed by my family when I am at work. Similarly, the problems related to my work will have to stay at work because if I think only of my career when I return home, it may cool down and dampen my love.
My family has no place in my work, nor does my work have a place at home. In order to keep the links intact with the two, I will separate them from each other. They must remain separated or my career is doomed to fail. This is the paradox of the ages, an eternal conflict.

I am nature’s greatest miracle.

I was given eyes to see and a mind to think. Now I know one of the great secrets of life because I finally perceive that all my difficulties, my discouragements and my torments are in fact only splendid opportunities in disguise. I will no longer be fooled by appearances because now my eyes are open. I will look beyond the clothing that people wear and I will not be disappointed.

I am nature’s greatest miracle.

No beast, no plant, no wind, no rain, no rock, no lake had a start like mine, for I was conceived with love and I came into the world with a very specific purpose. In the past, I have not taken this fact into account, but it will shape and guide my life.

I am nature’s greatest miracle.

And nature does not know defeat. She always ends up coming out victorious and I will do the same. And with every win, the next fight will be less difficult.
I will win and become the biggest seller in the world, because I am unique.

I am nature’s greatest miracle.
