Have you heard of Christian D. Larson’s famously motivating poem “I promise myself….”; a friend of mine, whom I coach, translated it into French. Read it every day until you know it by heart and expect changes in your attitude.

I promise myself to be so strong that nothing can disturb the peace of my mind,

I promise to speak health, happiness and prosperity to everyone I meet,

I promise to make all my friends feel that they have something in them that is worth it,

I promise myself to look at the bright side of everything and make my optimism become true,

I promise myself to think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect the best,

I promise myself that I will be just as enthusiastic about the successes of others as I am for my own,

I promise myself to forget the mistakes of the past and focus on my future great achievements,

I promise myself to always look happy and to offer a smile to all the living beings I meet,

I promise myself to spend so much time improving that I don’t have time to criticize others

I promise myself to be too big for worries, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to allow the presence of troubles,

I promise myself to think of the good of myself and proclaim it to the world, not in a low voice but by superb deeds,

I promise myself to live in the faith that everyone is on my side as long as I am faithful to the best of myself.

Did you know that this credo of the optimist comes from the book”Your forces and how to use them”- which means “Your strengths and how to use them”, written by Christian Larson in 1912?

Reading this poem every day will allow you not only to have confidence in yourself but also in life.
